AAUW LEGAL ADVOCACY FUND

Founded in 1981, the AAUW Legal Advocacy Fund (LAF) focuses solely on sex discrimination in higher education. This four-point program to promote equity for women in higher education includes:

  • financial support for sex discrimination lawsuits through its CASE SUPPORT SYSTEM
  • education across university communities about sex
discrimination issues through its CAMPUS OUTREACH PROGRAM
  • a NETWORK of volunteer attorneys and social scientists who consult with women who have filed or are considering filing sex discrimination lawsuits
  • recognition of innovative efforts to improve the climate for women on campus through the PROGRESS IN EQUITY AWARD
Each year the AAUW Legal Advocacy Fund's Progress in Equity Award recognizes a college or university program that has resulted in significant progress for women on campus. Recipients receive a stipend of up to $10,000 and public recognition throughout their communities, campus, and AAUW. Click here for an application and more information. Deadline is March 15, 2007.
